Toke Makinwa open to becoming second or third wife, reflects on being single at 40

Media personality and entrepreneur Toke Makinwa has revealed that she is open to becoming a second, third, or even fourth wife if the opportunity arises. The 40-year-old made this statement during a recent episode of her podcast, Toke Moments.
“At this point in my life, if I have the opportunity to marry again, as a second, third, fourth or fifth wife, I will think about it,” Makinwa said while discussing relationships with her guest.
The revelation comes months after Toke opened up about being single and childless at 40, a topic she admitted “always made me tear up.” Despite the emotional weight of that reality, she said she chooses to focus on her achievements and the love around her.
“I am 40, I am single, and I am childless. I said it, and I didn’t die,” she noted. “I look at my life like I am 40 and a boss, have built an empire, am one of the most resounding voices in Africa.”
During the episode, Makinwa also shared candid reflections on marriage and divorce. She stated that if she had remarried after her first marriage ended, she likely would have gotten divorced a second time.
Toke’s first marriage to fitness expert Maje Ayida ended in 2016, after just two years. The marriage collapsed over Ayida’s infidelity, including fathering a child with another woman. Makinwa revealed that despite being the victim, she was often blamed for the failure of the union.
“People had different versions of what they thought my marriage was, and it left me traumatised,” she said.
Makinwa’s frank conversation has since sparked mixed reactions on social media, with some praising her vulnerability and others debating her views on polygamous marriage.
