Why I can’t reconcile my father with Gov. Sani — Bello El-Rufai

The member representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, Bello El-Rufai, has said he can’t reconcile his father, Nasir El-Rufai, with Governor Uba Sani over their lingering political crisis.
According to him, resolving the political differences of the erstwhile allies is not part of his responsibilities as a lawmaker.
He also said the ongoing probe of the El-Rufai administration is not a bad idea.
He, however, cautioned that the probe should be done with genuine intention.
The lawmaker stated this when he featured on BBC Hausa’s Mahangar Zamani, aired on Saturday.
“It is not my job. Mine is to focus on delivering on my mandate to the good people of Kaduna North. I love peace and fidelity. But for me, if I were to join issues with anyone, I’d rather approach it not publicly.
“For me, there’s no human being I know politically like Malam Nasiru.
“He has always been my mentor since I was a little boy, and it will forever be so. He’s my father. A father is a father,” he added.
The lawmaker also admitted that he was not happy with the ongoing fight between two leaders, particularly given the place they held in his life.
He said, “It is unsettling. I wouldn’t love to see my enemies picking a fight with each other. I love peace.”
Mr El-Rufai noted that the rift is part of the inevitable challenges of life, “sometimes marriage crashes and couples divorce, and friends can cut ties. But it is important to maintain and preserve the ties, no matter what.”
When asked the reason for the fallout, he said,“None of them told me anything about the rift. I only got to understand that things are no longer as before.
“People want the issue to look like that of Dramendra and Amitabh Bachchan. Some are even calling me to coax out information on what is happening”.
Responding to a question on the probe of Mr El-Rufai’s administration by his successor, the lawmaker said, “It is not a bad thing to investigate. But it should be done with clear intention and not to humiliate anyone or because someone has offended you.
“But if you are doing it for selfish reasons, Allah will judge. Allah will forgive your frailties but will not overlook the harm you inflict on someone.”
