Super Falcons to face Benin or Sierra Leone in WAFCON 2026 qualifier

On Thursday, December 12, 2024, the draw for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifiers took place in Cairo, Egypt, setting up a potential clash for Nigeria’s Super Falcons. The Falcons will compete against either Benin Republic or Sierra Leone for a spot in the tournament.

Benin Republic and Sierra Leone will face off in a two-legged first-round match in February 2025. The winner of that encounter will then play Nigeria in the second round, which is scheduled for October 2025.

The winner of this showdown will secure a place in the 2026 WAFCON, set to be hosted by Morocco. The tournament will also serve as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top four teams from Morocco 2026 earning spots to represent Africa in the World Cup in Brazil.
