Spotify reveals most streamed Nigerian artists globally in 2024
Spotify has unveiled the list of the most streamed Nigerian artists outside the country in 2024, with Grammy-winning star Burna Boy leading the pack. Known for his global appeal, Burna Boy’s achievement cements his status as a trailblazer in exporting Nigerian music, making him the only African artist with three albums surpassing 500 million streams.
Ayra Starr claims the second spot, buoyed by her critically acclaimed sophomore album The Year I Turned 21, which features collaborations with Asake, Seyi Vibez, Giveon, Coco Jones, and Brazilian star Anitta. The Grammy-nominated artist had a stellar year, with her album earning both critical and commercial success.
Rema rounds out the top three, riding the global success of his record-breaking hit Calm Down, the first African song to surpass 1 billion streams. His sophomore album HEIS, released this year, gained significant attention for its high-energy production and hit singles like Ozeba, Hehehe, and Azaman.
