Sowore storms Police HQ with travel bag, dares arrest

Human rights activist and politician Omoyele Sowore showed up at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters on Wednesday with a packed travel bag—ready for whatever came next.
The visit followed a police summons dated August 5, inviting him for questioning over allegations of forgery and criminal defamation.
“I came prepared”
Sowore didn’t come quietly. He arrived around 12:16 p.m., flanked by his lawyers A.K. Musa and Marshal Abubakar, and a crowd of supporters chanting anti-government slogans and songs targeting IGP Kayode Egbetokun.
His travel bag was fully loaded with essentials like soap, a toothbrush, clothes, books, and more—a symbolic gesture showing he was ready for detention if necessary.
“Revolutionary comrades, show up”
The RevolutionNow convener had earlier vowed to honour the summons “with a full house,” calling on citizens of conscience to join him in what he framed as a fight against state intimidation.
The move adds to Sowore’s long-running clashes with security agencies and further cements his reputation as one of Nigeria’s most defiant activists.
