Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino is poised to undergo medical examinations ahead of his transfer to Arsenal.
The two clubs have reached an agreement on an initial transfer fee of €32 million, with an additional €5 million in potential add-ons and favorable payment terms.
Merino is expected to sign a contract with the Gunners that will keep him at the club until 2028.
Football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared on X: “Much like the Riccardo Calafiori situation, Mikel Arteta has played a key role in Merino’s move to Arsenal. Despite having at least two other offers, Merino has been clear: only #AFC.”
He continued, “Merino is set to travel for his medical, after which he will sign until 2028, with an option for an extension.”
