Skales strongly denies viral claim that he divorced wife for mocking his career

On Tuesday, May 27, Nigerian singer John Njenga-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, firmly denied a viral social media report alleging that he divorced his wife, Precious Hassanity, over her supposed mocking of his music career.
The claim originated from an X user, @Verity_HQ, who shared a post quoting Skales saying, “I d!vorced my wife because of a comment she made on my post and I don’t rêgret it. When my wife made the comment on my post, I got ãngry. People cannot be m0cking your husband’s music career, the music that is paying your bills and you join them to m0ck him.”
The post further quoted the singer as saying, “She should’ve defended me or, better still, stayed quiet. I wasn’t totally wr0ng for dîvorcing her because a woman who doesn’t support your hustle isn’t a good wife.”
However, Skales quickly refuted the allegations, calling the report “false” and “evil.” He warned the blogger to cease spreading misinformation, stating: “This is really evil of you that you would cook up such a story. This is not fair. I have never made such a statement and this is false. Please stop spreading lies.”
Skales and Precious Hassanity, a professional chef, tied the knot in September 2021. The couple’s relationship has been publicly scrutinized before, notably in November 2022, when Skales shared snippets of an unreleased track that appeared to be a diss aimed at his wife, including references to personal family issues.
The singer previously hinted at marital difficulties following the death of his mother, Martina Aiyewa, with a social media post urging caution in marriage: “In all you do, make sure you don’t marry a heartless person. Pray for my mental health.”
