The National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Seriake Dickson, has insisted that the opposition party did its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, a massive favor by granting him its political platform. Dickson stated that the political party remains the primary vehicle that will transport Peter Obi and his running mate, Rabi’u Kwankwaso, to the Presidential Villa in 2027.
Speaking during a live broadcast on Arise Television, the veteran politician clarified that no individual is doing the party a favor by joining its ranks. He stressed that his executive committee had successfully received several prominent politicians across the country long before the formal arrival of the former Anambra State Governor.
The party leader expressed disappointment over the activities of some overzealous political supporters who constantly attack the party hierarchy on social media. He maintained that internal discipline must prevail if the opposition hopes to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

“No one is doing NDC a favour, rather my colleagues and I are doing people a favour by granting our platform to them. And that narrative is important,” Dickson asserted during the television interview.
He argued that supporters cannot logically claim to love Peter Obi while simultaneously disparaging the leadership of the very platform sponsoring his presidential ambition. He reminded viewers that the party previously attracted top politicians like Senator Kabir Marafa from Zamfara State and Senator Aishatu Ahmed Binani from Adamawa State.
“Peter Obi is a cherished member of our party, and on our own we have made him a sole presidential candidate and that counts for something,” Dickson added. He concluded that the party leadership is working harmoniously with Kwankwaso to build a formidable nationwide structure.
