Despite completing her six-month suspension, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has been told by the Senate that she cannot resume duties yet.
In a letter dated September 4, 2025, the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, said her suspension remains in effect pending the outcome of her court case against the Senate.
“The matter remains sub judice, and until the judicial process is concluded, no administrative action can be taken to facilitate your resumption,” the letter stated.
Akpoti-Uduaghan had earlier notified the Senate of her intention to return on September 4, the date she believes marks the end of her suspension. However, the Senate insists it will only revisit the issue after the Court of Appeal rules on the ongoing legal battle.
