Scott Iguma accuses Nigerian police of sabotaging justice system after release on bail
Nigerian social media personality and activist, Scott Iguma, has accused the Nigeria Police Force of undermining the country’s justice system and acting as agents of oppression.
Iguma made the statement on Thursday in a video shared online, just three days after being granted bail by a Lagos State High Court. He had been arrested and remanded following allegations he made against real estate firm, PWAN, which he accused of defrauding customers.
The court granted him bail on Monday, setting the amount at ₦10 million.
In his video, Iguma thanked members of the public for their support during his legal ordeal and used the opportunity to speak out against the conduct of law enforcement officers.
“With my experience with the Nigeria Police, it’s quite sad,” he said. “They are not loyal to the Nigerian constitution or justice — they are only loyal to money.”
He went on to allege that officers could be easily bribed and used to oppress innocent citizens.
“The Nigerian police are so cheap that you can bribe them with a bottle of Coke and they will help convict an innocent man for murder,” Iguma claimed. “What they did to me is deeply painful and a reflection of a broken system.”
His comments have sparked renewed public discourse on police accountability and the use of state institutions to silence critics.
