Rivalries among gospel artists concern Tope Alabi
Gospel singer Tope Alabi has expressed her deep concerns regarding what she perceives as insincerity and rivalry among gospel artists within the music industry.
Alabi shared her thoughts during the ‘Celebrating Jesus 7.0’ concert held in Ibadan on Sunday, October 27, 2024. Before taking the stage, she articulated her frustration over the pervasive jealousy and bitter competition that she believes is prevalent among her colleagues.
Highlighting the importance of support and unity among both established and emerging artists, Alabi urged her senior peers to prioritize their legacies and accountability before God, rather than chasing fame and success.
“God will hold us accountable for these things. Let us stop it. It is high time we know that we are working for the kingdom and not for ourselves or fame. The bigger ones separated themselves from the up and coming. And yet the bigger ones still fight themselves again, what do you want those coming up to do?”
She further lamented the behavior of emerging artists, stating, “The emerging ones are already against each other. These children coming up are already backstabbing and emulating us because we started it. They are enemies to each other and smile with one another, they are faking it. This is getting out of hand and God will ask us.”
