Championship: West Brom boss laments Semi Ajayi’s injury

West Bromwich Albion manager Tony Mowbray has expressed his disappointment over Semi Ajayi’s latest injury setback.
Ajayi, who had only just returned to action after a four-month layoff due to a hamstring injury, suffered another hamstring issue during the Baggies’ 2-0 victory over Oxford United last weekend. He was forced off the field in the 41st minute of the match.
Mowbray acknowledged the blow to both the player and the club, noting, “It’s disappointing for him, frustrating for him and for us. He’s got all the qualities to be a really talented player.” He emphasized Ajayi’s importance to the team, stating that his mobility allows West Brom to play a higher defensive line, which helps keep pressure off their goal.
Despite the setback, Mowbray reassured the fans that the club would push on with the available players. “He will be a loss. A blow to us but we wish him a speedy recovery and we will get on with it with the fit players. We have to push on,” he added.
Ajayi has featured in 14 league matches for West Brom this season, and his absence will certainly be felt by the club.
