Nigerian music star Peter Okoye, one half of the famous duo P-Square, has addressed the confusion surrounding the arrest of a suspect in Ghana who shares his name.
A viral video circulating on social media showed Ghanaian police arresting a 31-year-old man, also named Peter Okoye, on charges of fraud and kidnapping.
Some social media users mistakenly identified the singer as the person arrested. In response, Peter Okoye took to his X (formerly Twitter) account to clarify the situation.
Sharing the viral video, he humorously urged the authorities to ensure they specify which “Peter Okoye” they were referring to, writing in pidgin, “Abeg make una dey specificaly dey specify which ‘PETER OKOYE’. I no be thief.”
