PRP blasts government over rising insecurity and unfair policies in Northern Nigeria

On Monday, January 13, the People’s Redemption Party (PRP) expressed serious concerns about the worsening security situation and growing economic challenges in northern Nigeria. The opposition party warned that terrorism and violence are becoming bigger problems, while the economy continues to struggle with rising prices and inflation.

Abba Sule Namatazu, the National Vice Chairman for the North-West, spoke out about the insecurity in the region, saying it is deeply worrying. He criticized the government’s approach of trying to talk to terrorists, believing that such actions only encourage more violence.

He said, “Vast tracts of productive farmland across the North-East, North-West, and North-Central regions remain abandoned, resulting in a severe food crisis nationwide. The PRP believes all stakeholders must collaborate to address this issue urgently.”

The PRP also strongly opposed the government’s plan to privatize public universities, calling it a decision that would harm ordinary people. Namatazu warned that they would fight against the privatization of schools, which many past and current leaders attended. He argued that such a policy hurts the average Nigerian and doesn’t make sense.

“PRP, alongside other concerned Nigerians, will resist any attempt to privatize public schools, which many of our current and former leaders once attended. This policy undermines the common man and basic common sense,” he added.

Namatazu also pointed out the unfairness in education, saying that while leaders send their children to study at expensive schools abroad, many Nigerian children are left without the chance to go to school, struggling to survive.

While the PRP acknowledged the importance of tax reforms, they urged the government to involve experts in the process, reminding everyone that taxes affect everyone and need to be handled carefully and responsibly.
