President Tinubu orders military to end insecurity by 2025

On Tuesday, February 4, 2025, President Bola Tinubu made a bold statement, directing the military to put an end to banditry and all forms of insecurity across the country by the end of 2025. The directive was revealed by the Minister of Defence, Abubakar Badaru, in a widely shared video.

Badaru explained that, under President Tinubu’s orders, the military’s efforts against bandits and other criminals will intensify. He assured the public that the military won’t stop until the nation is free from the grip of insecurity.

“The bandits are now on the run, but the military will not rest until we end this thing,” Badaru said. “The president has given us marching orders to end insecurity in every part of our country by the end of this year.”

He also added that the Chief of Defence Staff and the National Security Adviser are working tirelessly to meet this goal. “We are putting pressure on all the theatre operations,” he said, emphasizing that the military is already making progress.

One of the significant actions already taken, according to Badaru, includes the lifting of mining activities in Zamfara, a state that has been heavily impacted by banditry. “This is part of the reason we are meeting today—to look at all areas where we have serious security issues and how best we can secure those areas,” he explained.

The military’s efforts are expected to escalate over the next year, with the ultimate goal of restoring peace and security to all parts of Nigeria by the end of 2025.
