President Tinubu makes big changes to ministries

On Wednesday, October 23, President Bola Tinubu announced some important changes during a Federal Executive Council meeting. He decided to get rid of the Ministries of Niger Delta Development and Sports.

Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, shared this news on X (formerly known as Twitter). He said, “President Tinubu and the Federal Executive Council scrapped the Niger Delta Ministry and the Ministry of Sports Development.”

Instead, there will be a new Ministry of Regional Development. This ministry will help manage different regional development groups, like the Niger Delta Development Commission and others from the North West, South West, and North East.

Also, the National Sports Commission will now handle the responsibilities of the old Ministry of Sports.

In addition, the Federal Executive Council decided to combine the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.

These changes were approved during the meeting held in Abuja on that day.
