President Tinubu departs Abuja for Abu Dhabi sustainability week
President Bola Tinubu has departed Nigeria’s capital, Abuja, to attend the 2025 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in the United Arab Emirates. The president’s plane left at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday for the high-profile summit, which runs from January 12 to 18.
According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu’s participation comes at the invitation of UAE President, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The event aims to accelerate sustainable development and enhance global socioeconomic progress.
“The Summit will bring together global leaders to explore pathways to fast-track the transformation to a sustainable economy,” Onanuga stated. He added that the 2025 edition, themed ‘The Nexus of Next; Supercharging Sustainable Progress’, will foster discussions among policymakers, business executives, and civil society leaders on innovative approaches to achieving global sustainability goals.
ADSW, a key annual event for over 15 years, is recognized for promoting collaboration among stakeholders to tackle pressing global challenges and drive sustainable growth. The summit continues to serve as a platform for dialogue and partnerships in pursuit of a prosperous and sustainable future for all.
This marks another strategic engagement for President Tinubu in advancing Nigeria’s global partnerships and positioning the country as a key player in sustainable economic initiatives.
