Ibrahim Chatta saved my Nollywood career – Actor Apa reveals

On Wednesday, March 5, Nigerian actor Sanusi Izihaq, better known as Apa, opened up about why he’s still part of Nollywood today.

In an interview with actress Biola Bayo on Talk to B podcast, Apa shared the struggles he faced when he was starting out in the industry. He credited actor Ibrahim Chatta for helping him stay in the game despite wanting to quit several times.

“Big shout out to Ibrahim Chatta, I would have left Nollywood if not for him. I remember a director who had never met me but only heard about me, saying he would deal with me. I had never worked with him, but I was eager to,” Apa said.

He continued, “Things got really tense, and I started despising the toxic working environment. It got so emotional that I started crying.”

Apa went on to explain that Chatta was there for him on multiple occasions. “Ibrahim Chatta has seen me cry two to three times and would ask what happened. I told him I was ready to leave the industry, but he always encouraged me and advised me to stay,” Apa said.

The actor revealed that he had considered quitting Nollywood three different times, but Ibrahim Chatta kept calling him back to work on his projects, ensuring that he didn’t leave the industry.
