Portable claims to be at Aro Hospital after being declared wanted by Police
On Tuesday, February 18, 2025, controversial street singer Habeeb Okikiola, better known as Portable, responded to the Ogun State police’s declaration that he was wanted. Portable claimed he was receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital in Aro, Abeokuta, and is currently unable to respond in person.
This came after the Ogun State Police Command issued a public statement declaring him wanted, following an alleged attack on officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development. The attack reportedly took place at Odogwu Bar while officials were conducting an enforcement exercise in Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.
In response to the police’s actions, Portable posted a series of videos on his Instagram page, where he apologized to the state government for the violent incident. However, the police remained firm, citing a valid court order in their declaration, which called for the public’s assistance in locating him. “The Ogun State Police Command has obtained a valid court order declaring him wanted. Members of the public are strongly advised to assist the police by providing any valuable information that can lead to his immediate arrest,” the statement read in part.
Portable, who denied any criminal activity, appealed to the people of Ogun State and Governor Dapo Abiodun, insisting that he was innocent. He explained his current situation in a video, stating, “I fear government. I am a federal government liability. Then I’m a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients.”
Portable further clarified, “I am from Abeokuta and they are taking care of me there. I am not a thief, and never done Yahoo. I help people around me without even looking at their background.” He also claimed that his troubles were the result of spiritual attacks linked to his property purchases, saying, “Some persons are attacking me spiritually because I bought their lands and houses.”
