Portable accuses Wizkid, Davido, others of stifling emerging artistes

Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has accused Afrobeats stars Wizkid, Davido, Olamide and Burna Boy of obstructing the progress of other musicians in the industry.
The Zazu crooner alleged that the quartet had dominated the Nigerian music scene for more than a decade, making it difficult for new superstars to emerge.
Speaking in a video shared on his social media page, Portable also accused the artistes of misleading the public about the value of their jewellery and putting undue pressure on younger musicians through constant displays of wealth.
“Wizkid, Olamide, Davido and Burna Boy have been at the top for over 10 years and blocking the way for other artistes to come up. They also lie a lot; they can say they bought a chain for one billion dollars, whereas it might have been given to them for free,” he said.
Portable urged his colleagues to stop creating unrealistic expectations for up-and-coming artistes and warned that he would continue to call them out if the trend persisted.
