Police Corporal refuses to report to new station for nine years, gets dismissed by NPF

The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a Corporal, identified as Buba Adamu, for refusing to report at the Kaduna State Command, where he was transferred from the Cross River State Command, for nine years.

Adamu also operated illegally at the Cross River Command and even went as far as promoting himself to Superintendent while at the Cross River Command.

SP Irene Ugbo, the spokesperson of the Cross River Command, revealed this at a press briefing in Calabar on Thursday, July 11.

She said that Adamu had operated as a “mobile police officer” without any supervision or reporting to a specific police command since 2015 when the transfer was made.

The dismissed corporal was even said to have been receiving salaries from his new station, despite not reporting there for nearly a decade.

Adamu’s lid was blown open by some concerned members of the Nassarawa community, a Hausa/Fulani settlement in Calabar municipality that had reportedly suffered from his illegal operations.

The community raised the alarm when they found out that the Command was under pressure to release Adamu following his arrest.

Ugbo said, “As of today, Corporal Adamu is no longer a policeman because he has been relieved of his duties.

“Every item, property belonging to the Nigeria Police in his possession, including uniforms, identification card, and others have been retrieved.

“The matter has now been charged to court. It is left [to] the Judiciary. The court will take it up from where we stopped, as we have done the needful.”
