PDP protests against upcoming Rivers State LGA elections

On Thursday, October 3, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State staged a protest against the local government area (LGA) elections scheduled for Saturday, October 5.

Led by party Chairman Chukwuemeka Aaron, PDP supporters braved heavy rain to march through the streets. The demonstration started at the PDP Secretariat along the Port Harcourt-Aba expressway and made its way to the Police Headquarters on Moscow Road.

Upon reaching the police headquarters, the protesters submitted an official petition urging security agencies not to participate in the upcoming elections.

In a speech while delivering the petition, a rain-soaked Aaron accused the state’s governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, of ignoring the rule of law. He informed police officials that a court order currently exists, halting the elections and instructing police not to provide security for the event.

Aaron called on the police to adhere to the court’s directive and refrain from supporting the elections, emphasizing the importance of upholding the law.
