PDP acting chairman Damagum directs National Secretary Anyanwu to resume duties

The Acting National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Damagum, on Wednesday ordered the party’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, to resume his duties at the National Secretariat in Abuja.

Damagum made the announcement during a press briefing held at the party’s Wadata Plaza National Secretariat.

He also revealed that the planned 100th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting had been canceled due to constitutional issues within the party.

The PDP will instead convene a National Caucus meeting on June 30.

“Anyanwu is resuming as the National Secretary. At the next Caucus, we will make a decision leading to a proper NEC. Like INEC said, they don’t have our notice, so we will have an extended caucus meeting on June 30,” Damagum stated.

The directive follows a recent meeting between a high-powered PDP delegation and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) concerning the ongoing crisis over the position of the party’s National Secretary.
