Paul Scholes names his top five Manchester United players of all time

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has revealed his personal top five players in the club’s storied history.

Having spent 20 years at Manchester United, Scholes lifted 11 Premier League titles, five domestic cups, and two Champions League titles during his time at Old Trafford. The former midfielder is one of the most decorated footballers in the sport.

When asked to name his top five players in a TikTok interview with MailSport, Scholes admitted it was a “difficult” task.

Here are Scholes’ top five:

  1. Eric Cantona – Scholes placed the French forward at number five, despite only playing with him for a brief period. He explained, “Number five, Eric Cantona. I only played with him for a year or two, but he made a massive impact on the club.”

  2. Bryan Robson – At number four, Scholes selected the club’s longest-serving captain. He called Robson “Captain Marvel,” highlighting his 400+ appearances for Manchester United. “In August 2011, he was voted by the club’s former players as the greatest ever United player,” Scholes added.

  3. Roy Keane – The fiery midfielder claimed the third spot, known for his leadership and uncompromising play.

  4. Wayne Rooney – Rooney earned the number two spot for his exceptional contributions to the club over the years.

  5. Ryan Giggs – Scholes’ top choice was the legendary winger, who played for Manchester United from the age of 17 to 40. Scholes praised him, saying, “What he did for this club from the age of 17 to 40 was outstanding.”
