Paul Parker urges Man Utd to replace Onana with Leicester’s Hermansen, calls him useless

Former Manchester United player Paul Parker has called for the club to replace goalkeeper André Onana, suggesting Leicester City’s Mads Hermansen as a possible summer signing.
Parker expressed dissatisfaction with Onana’s mentality, describing the 28-year-old Cameroonian as “useless” and criticizing his lack of reaction when Manchester United concedes goals. His remarks came after United’s disappointing FA Cup loss to Fulham on Sunday.
“I can’t help but wonder why the club decided to let David de Gea go,” Parker said in an interview with Danish news site SpilXperten. “It was a disgraceful way they parted ways after he was named Player of the Year three times in a row, and now, with Onana in goal, it looks even worse because his replacement is so ineffective.”
Parker also took issue with Onana’s leadership on the field: “What bothers me even more about Onana is his mentality. It doesn’t seem to upset him when goals are conceded. You never see him shouting at his defense, like De Gea or Peter Schmeichel did. He doesn’t seem like a true goalkeeper to me.”
In light of these concerns, Parker suggested that Altay Bayindir should get a chance in goal but believes the long-term solution lies in signing Hermansen. “Right now, I think Bayindir should get a shot, but in the future, Manchester United should target Mads Hermansen. He’s been key to Leicester’s survival efforts this season,” Parker added.
Onana joined Manchester United from Ajax in the summer of 2023 as a replacement for De Gea under manager Erik ten Hag, but Parker remains unimpressed with his performances so far.
