Panic in Kaduna as bandits kidnap nurses and patients

On Monday, September 9, 2024, a group of unknown gunmen, suspected to be bandits, took two nurses and several patients from the Primary Healthcare Centre in Kuyallo, eastern Birnin-Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The bandits initially targeted the nearby Government Day Secondary School at 9:00 am. When they found the school empty, they moved to the nearest healthcare centre.

Musa Alhassan, a local vigilante leader, reported that the bandits were looking to kidnap students but instead took two female nurses and several patients. This caused widespread panic in the community.

He said, “The bandits came to the school around 9:00 am, asking about the students, but when they found out the school was empty, they went to the healthcare centre and started kidnapping people. The exact number of patients kidnapped is still unknown.”

An eyewitness noted that the bandits entered the healthcare centre with guns and machetes, forcibly dragging people out.

DAILY POST recalls that there was a similar bandit attack in Kaduna State last Friday. This latest incident adds to a troubling series of attacks in the region. As of now, there has been no official statement from the state government.
