Omotola Jalade denies fleeing to Nigeria over Los Angeles wildfires, calls reports ‘inaccurate’

Nollywood actress Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde has refuted claims that she relocated to Nigeria due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles. The actress took to her Instagram page to clarify the viral reports, calling them “inaccurate.”

The rumors began after Omotola shared a post on Thursday, January 9, 2025, announcing her arrival in Nigeria. In the post, she wrote, “Touchdown Abuja. When my American fans follow me back to Nigeria. I had to evacuate in 20 minutes. Please, guys, stay safe out there. If you have family in LA, check on them.” The post quickly led to speculation that she had fled the city due to the devastating wildfires that have caused mass evacuations and loss of life in Los Angeles.

The fires, which have forced more than 137,000 people to evacuate their homes, have claimed over 30 lives, including Hollywood actress Dalyce Curry. However, Omotola quickly addressed the rumors in a statement released on Instagram on Tuesday evening.

“I want to take a moment to address the incredible outpouring of concern and support I have received regarding the fires in Los Angeles,” Omotola wrote. “To set the record straight: My family and I are safe. However, I have seen reports suggesting that I had to leave the U.S. because of the fire. This is inaccurate.”

She further clarified, “I have been in Nigeria since December 2024, and I’m still here presently. While I deeply cherish my connection to LA, these fires were not the reason for my travel.”

Omotola’s clarification comes as numerous A-list celebrities, including singers and actors, have been affected by the deadly wildfires in California.
