On Wednesday, May 7, renowned Nollywood actor and comedian Okey Bakassi was officially crowned as the traditional ruler of Umuihuocha Autonomous Community in Mbaise, Imo State.

In a video shared on his official Instagram page, the actor, whose real name is Okechukwu Onyegbule, was presented to his people in a colourful ceremony rich in Igbo customs and cultural splendour.

Now bearing the royal title “His Royal Highness Eze Okechukwu Onyegbule, the Okwe II of Umuihuocha Obohia,” Bakassi described the event as a deeply meaningful moment for himself and his community.

“Special presentation as king (Eze) of Umuihuocha community,” he wrote alongside the video of the ceremony.

The occasion marked the culmination of community-wide preparations and came barely two weeks after the respected entertainer announced that he had been selected to ascend the throne.
