Hope Uzodinma claims Imo is now a one-party state

On Friday, February 7, 2025, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma declared that the state is now a “one-party state,” stating that opposition parties have disappeared from the political scene.

He made this statement while welcoming the National Chairman of the APC, Abdullahi Ganduje, and other national party leaders who had visited the state for the commissioning of new roads by the governor.

Uzodinma praised the APC for its successful outreach to rural areas, attributing the party’s success in local government elections to its people-centered projects.

“I can testify to you, Mr. Chairman, that as a party, we have won the hearts of Imo people through our superlative performance in the last five years,” Uzodinma said. “The party has been fully entrenched here because the people can relate to our developmental initiatives.”

The governor pointed out that the opposition parties in Imo have faded away due to the visible progress made under the APC administration. He claimed that these former opposition parties have essentially disappeared because the people can see the improvements taking place in the state.

Uzodinma further stated that the results of the State House of Assembly and local government elections, where the APC claimed nearly all the positions, were proof that opposition voices no longer hold weight in Imo’s political landscape.

“APC government has brought the State back on track, and moving forward is the only assurance,” the governor said, expressing pride in the leadership of the APC. He reaffirmed his commitment to continuing the development of infrastructure and human capital in the state.
