NMDPRA says aviation fuel supply stable, guarantees 74 Days sufficiency nationwide

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA) has assured Nigerians of adequate aviation fuel supply nationwide, stating that current stock levels can sustain demand for 74 days.

The Authority disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday by its Director of Public Affairs, George Ene-Ita, noting that available reserves comprise 12 days of inland stock and 62 days from refinery stocks.

It said the combined supply position reflects stable availability of Jet A1 fuel across the country, dismissing concerns over reported shortages and price hikes.

According to the regulator, aviation fuel supply remains secure and sufficient to meet domestic demand, while monitoring continues to prevent any disruption in distribution.

The NMDPRA also clarified that aviation fuel pricing is deregulated and determined by market forces. It stated that the ex-gantry price at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemical Company stood at N1,879 per litre as of April 16, slightly below the international benchmark of N1,900 per litre in Lagos.

It added that retail prices nationwide range between N1,960 and N2,800 per litre as of April 17, describing reports of prices reaching N3,300 per litre as inaccurate.

The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring energy security and preventing profiteering within the downstream petroleum sector.
