Nigerian Navy to establish secondary school in Ebonyi
The Nigerian Navy says it would establish a secondary school in Izzi Local Government Area of Ebonyi State.
Director of Naval Transformation, Rear Admiral Michael Oamen, disclosed this when he visited Governor Francis Nwifuru at the Government House, Abakaliki.
Oamen told the governor that the visit was to seek the government’s collaboration in the establishment of a Naval presence in the state.
We are here to commend you for your good works. We are here to inform you that we want to establish a Naval Secondary School in Ebonyi State. In terms of education, the Navy stands out. We take education seriously,” he said.
In his response, Governor Nwifuru welcomed the request as timely, giving his commitment to development of education and human capital.
He urged the Naval authorities to move a step further to set a university where graduates from their secondary schools will continue to maintain the ethics and discipline they are noted for.
The governor urged the Navy to hasten the commencement of academic activities in the school, assuring them of the support and cooperation of the host community and Ebonyi State Government.
