Nigeria police raise alarm as cases of missing persons spike in Ogun State

On Wednesday, January 8, the Ogun State Police Command raised an important alarm about a sharp rise in the number of missing persons in the state.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, shared the news in a statement in Abeokuta. She explained that the police had noticed an unusual increase in reports of missing people of all ages. Sadly, only a small number of these missing individuals have been found, with many still not returning home.

“We encourage everyone to prioritize their safety by maintaining a heightened sense of security to avoid becoming a victim,” Odutola said.

She urged all residents to stay alert and more security-conscious. The police department is focusing on raising awareness about this worrying trend in the community.

The Commissioner of Police, Lanre Ogunlowo, has advised that parents should not allow their children to travel in commercial vehicles with strangers. He also suggested that young people use the communication features on their phones, especially when traveling or feeling unsafe, to share their location in case of trouble.

For any assistance or emergencies, the public can contact the police control room at 09164859299 or the Police Public Relations Department at 09159578888.
