‘Nigeria is bleeding’ – Adamawa Governor Fintiri criticizes economic policies

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has expressed deep concerns about the state of Nigeria’s economy, telling the Federal Government that the country is “bleeding” under the current economic policies.

Speaking at a meeting of the National Reconciliation Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Bauchi, Fintiri criticized the government’s economic strategies, saying they were causing severe hardship for Nigerians.

“Nigeria is bleeding, we are suffering, there is too much anger, and the economic policy is not working,” Fintiri said. “That is why we always call on the Federal Government to reconsider some of these economic policies that are only putting hardship on Nigerians.”

He further emphasized the importance of leadership, reminding those in power that it is a privilege granted by God and must be exercised with trust and responsibility. Fintiri urged the government to implement policies that ease the burdens on Nigerians rather than adding to their pain.

“The country belongs to us. It does not belong to the World Bank, IMF, or the international community,” he stated, calling for more focus on policies that serve the people of Nigeria.

The meeting also saw remarks from the Chairman of the National Reconciliation Committee, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, who addressed the PDP’s losses in the last election. Oyinlola pointed to disunity within the party as a key factor in the defeat and pledged the committee’s commitment to resolving these issues moving forward.

“We are here to interact with our leadership and membership of our great party so that we can discuss where we are falling short of what we were supposed to do, which led to the outcome we witnessed,” Oyinlola said.
