Kaduna retirees plead for help, threaten big march to governor’s house

On Tuesday, March 11, a group of retirees from Kaduna State’s Contributory Pension Scheme (CPS) told Governor Uba Sani he has 14 days—until Tuesday, March 25—to give them the money they’re owed. If he doesn’t, they’re ready to march right up to the Government House and protest
These retirees gathered peacefully outside Sir Kashim Ibrahim House to share their troubles. They said life is really tough without their money—some don’t have enough food, a place to live, or medicine to stay healthy.
Professor Nate Danjuma, the group’s leader, spoke up loud and clear. He said, “Some of our members are dying of hunger, while others are developing mental illnesses due to the lack of medical care. Many have no homes, and families are falling apart.” He warned that if nothing changes in two weeks, they’ll take over the Government House to make their voices heard.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Muhammad Rabiu, came out to talk to them. He was happy they stayed calm and promised that Governor Sani would listen to their problems and try to help.
