NASC makes big changes: Nwoba appointed Clerk of Senate, other leaders promoted

On Monday, December 9, 2024, the National Assembly Service Commission (NASC) announced a major leadership shake-up. The Commission approved the appointment of Mr. Andrew Ogbonnaya Nwoba as the new Clerk of the Senate. This decision will take effect on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.

Before this promotion, Nwoba served as the Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

The NASC also promoted other important officials in the National Assembly. Mr. Emmanuel Oda was appointed as the Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate, while Vivien N. Njemanze was given the same role for the House of Representatives.

Dr. Obasi D. Ukoha was promoted to be the new Secretary of the Directorate of Legislative Budget and Planning.

In other changes, Mr. Rawlings Agada was moved from his position as Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the Senate to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), Senate. Florence Kehinde A. was also transferred from Deputy Clerk (Administration) of the House of Representatives to Deputy Clerk (Legislative), House of Representatives.

Additionally, the NASC previously approved the appointments of Ogundayo Mofoluwake Olufunmilayo as Secretary of the Directorate of Special Duties, Alkali Umar Abubakar as Secretary of the Directorate of Human Resources & Staff Development, and Essien Eyo Essien as Secretary of the Directorate of Zonal Liaison Offices.
