NAPTIP rescues 2-year-old girl trafficked from Abuja to Aba for ₦100,000

The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has rescued a two-year-old girl who was trafficked from Abuja to Aba and sold for ₦100,000.

According to a statement released by the agency on Friday, the child, now renamed Chiamaka Favor (alias), was rescued by NAPTIP’s Abia Command on May 8, 2025, after being trafficked in February 2025.

The suspected trafficker, arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Abia and handed over to NAPTIP, is believed to have collaborated with three trafficking syndicates based in Abuja to carry out the illegal sale.

“Investigations are ongoing,” the agency stated, adding that efforts are being made to dismantle the syndicates involved.

NAPTIP has called on the child’s biological parents or any known relatives to urgently contact the agency to help reunite the girl with her family.
