NANS plans nationwide protest over fuel price increase

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced that it will organize a nationwide protest if the recent rise in fuel prices is not reversed.

On Wednesday, September 4, Comrade Okunomo Henry Adewumi released a statement saying that NANS is preparing students for demonstrations in major cities across the country.

The protest is in response to the recent fuel price hike and dissatisfaction with the leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), led by Mele Kyari.

“NANS is calling for an immediate reduction in fuel prices and the removal of Mele Kyari from his position. We plan to stage protests in major cities nationwide if our demands are not met,” said Adewumi.

He also mentioned that NANS has informed security agencies, including the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Chief of Defence Staff, and all state governors, about the planned protests to ensure they are aware of the upcoming demonstrations.
