My current residence is not safe for a celebrity like me – Vera Anyim calls for contributions for new house
Vera Anyim, the now-popular police officer who went viral with the video of her testimony at the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Abuja, has appealed to Nigerians to support her to secure an accommodation more in line with her new celebrity status.
Anyim became popular after her testimony of earning a law degree and thus becoming the first graduate in her family, was interrupted by the Senior Pastor of the church, Paul Enenche who doubted her claim, given her spoken English.
However, it was later discovered that she indeed earned a law degree from the National Open University of Nigeria, NOUN. The confirmation led to calls for apology to her from Enenche.
Anyim was also recently returned from Port Harcourt where she was on sponsored vacation at Portland Resorts Hotel.
It was learnt that the owner of the facility, Azubuike Ihemeje, invited her for an all-expense paid trip.
She also shared many videos of her times at the resort on her Facebook page.
However, she has now said she cannot return to where she was living in Abuja as it has become unsafe and unbefitting of her new ‘celebrity status.’
In the video shared on her social media handle, she appealed to Nigerians to help her secure a new accommodation, while noting that her new ‘celebrity status’ came upon her all of a sudden as she never planned for it.
Anyim said: “I want to say to Nigerians, you know this thing that happened is a thing of joy, I never dreamed of it, it came at this moment, I never dream of being a celebrity.
“It just came all of a sudden. I never prepared for it. I want to use this medium to urge us to assist me with accommodation because I am not buoyant now to rent a house. Where I am staying now is risky and insecure. It is a very open place and everybody already knows I am a celebrity.
“When I left Abuja, some people in my compound didn’t know what was happening, but I was there, and so many of them heard what was going on. Some have said they are waiting for me. My brother, who stays with me, told me that people gathered, all waiting for me.”
“That is why I am voicing out, asking for assistance to enable me to get a place I can stay so that my life can be safe. As I’m talking to you, I’m just hiding myself so that people will not come and misbehave at my side.
“So, please, if there is any way you can help me to get accommodation where I can be secured as a human being, intelligent people know what I am talking about.
“I don’t need to move or stay anyhow. If you don’t mind, you can assist me. Nothing is too small.”
