Mr Macaroni stars in upcoming drama freedom way, set for July 18 cinema release
Nigerian actor and social justice advocate Debo ‘Mr Macaroni’ Adedayo is set to play a police officer in the highly anticipated film Freedom Way, scheduled to hit cinemas across Nigeria on July 18, 2025.
The award-winning drama, written and produced by Blessing Uzzi under her production company Bluhouse Studios, also marks the feature directorial debut of Olalekan Afolabi.
In the final trailer released on Friday, June 27, viewers are introduced to Mr Macaroni’s character, Abiola, a commercial motorcyclist grappling with the harsh consequences of a government ban on okadas. His tense encounter with a group of policemen, led by Officer Ajayi (played by Femi Jacobs), triggers a chain of gripping events.
The trailer ends with a shocking twist—Abiola is later seen in full police uniform, wielding an AK-47, suggesting a radical transformation that signals the film’s deeper commentary on power, identity, and the state.
Known for his outspoken activism and satirical skits, Mr Macaroni’s casting in this layered role adds depth to the film’s themes and is expected to spark widespread conversation upon release.
