Mourinho reveals two surprise clubs he could manage in the future

On Wednesday, March 5, 2025, Fenerbahçe manager José Mourinho opened up about the possibility of coaching two of Scotland’s biggest clubs, Celtic and Rangers, in the future.

Mourinho, who is currently managing Fenerbahçe, expressed his admiration for the “passion” of Scottish football. Ahead of his team’s Europa League last-16 clash against Rangers on Thursday night, he suggested that he could be open to managing either club someday.

When asked about the chance to coach Celtic or Rangers during a pre-match press conference, Mourinho said: “Why not in the future? People say the Scottish league is a league of two teams, but it is a league of passion, and passion in football is everything for me. To play in empty stadiums or where there is no fire of passion does not make any sense to me. Celtic and Rangers are big clubs with big fanbases, big emotions, big responsibilities, and big expectations, so why not?”

Mourinho emphasized that he is happy at Fenerbahçe for now but has not ruled out a move to Scotland in the future.
