The Labour Party’s governorship candidate in Anambra State, George Moghalu, has unveiled Ifeoma Okaro as his running mate ahead of the November 8, 2025, governorship election.
Moghalu presented Okaro to party stakeholders, including local government and ward executives, at a meeting in Awka on Friday. He expressed confidence in the party’s chances, emphasizing unity and grassroots mobilisation as key to victory.
“We must work together to achieve success. Labour Party is not like the others—there are no alliances; we are focused,” Moghalu said, urging ward chairmen and secretaries to aggressively campaign within their communities.
The candidate reaffirmed his commitment to accountability and vowed not to betray the trust placed in him by the party and its supporters. He also disclosed that the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, is backing their campaign and would soon make a public appearance in support.
In her remarks, Okaro called on women to throw their weight behind the ticket, highlighting Moghalu’s inclusive approach to both gender and religion. She noted that women are the real voters and should unite to secure victory for the Labour Party.
