Former England defender Micah Richards has confidently stated that Liverpool will be a strong contender for the Premier League title this season, especially after their recent 2-1 victory over Chelsea.
Discussing the match on Sky Sports, Richards noted that under the management of Arne Slot, Liverpool “are challengers now.” The Reds secured their win at Anfield with Curtis Jones scoring the decisive goal after Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson had equalized Mohammed Salah’s opener.
This victory keeps Liverpool at the top of the table with 21 points from eight matches.
Richards commented, “Liverpool are challengers now—there’s no mistake about it.
“Chelsea were exceptional at times during the game, but I think Liverpool, in the way they can see out a game and adapt with the slower build-up and the way they feed off the crowd’s energy, I feel they have the chance to go all the way this year.”
