Released on April 4, 2025, ‘Reason 2 Japa’ pairs the rhythmic bounce of Amapiano log drums with introspective lyrics that question the struggles of living in a nation where, as Mayorkun puts it, “political elites continue to hack down the dreams of young Nigerians.” The singer’s rhetorical refrain “Tell me the reason not to japa” captures the frustration felt by many in a country marked by economic instability, insecurity, and poor governance.
