FC Barcelona defender Marcos Alonso will leave the club at the end of the current season, the decision has been made, according to Fabrizio Romano.
There’s still respect between Alonso and Barcelona, but his contract will not be renewed.
Alonso’s current contract expires at the end of this season.
The Spaniard joined the Spanish giant from Chelsea at the beginning of the 2022/23 season in September 2022, and helped them to a league title in record-breaking fashion, playing a number of positions for Xavi’s men.
He played 24 times in the league last season, but he has only played four times this season, a clear indication that he is now deemed surplus to requirements at the Catalan club.
