Leverkusen striker Victor Boniface suspended for one match due to unsporting behavior
Victor Boniface, forward for Bayer Leverkusen, has been handed a one-match suspension by the German Football Federation (DFB) for unsporting conduct. The Nigeria international has also been fined €25,000 for the offense.
The DFB announced the decision on Wednesday, August 21.
The incident in question occurred after the final whistle of the DFL Super Cup match last Saturday, August 17, where Boniface was seen showing his left middle finger to VFB Stuttgart players as he ran past them. The disciplinary committee acted on this retrospective investigation, as referee Tobias Stieler did not witness the act during the match.
As a result, Boniface will miss a German Cup fixture. Both the player and his club have accepted the ruling, making it legally binding.
