Leaders express condolences to Governor Eno after the passing of his wife
On Friday, September 27, President Bola Tinubu, the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, and First Lady Senator Remi Tinubu extended their heartfelt condolences to Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State following the death of his wife, Pastor Patience Umo Eno, on September 26.
According to a statement from Akwa Ibom’s Commissioner for Information, Ini Ememobong, Pastor Patience Umo Eno passed away peacefully at the hospital after a brief illness. Ememobong shared that the family is accepting this loss with humility and has requested prayers and support during this challenging time.
President Tinubu expressed his sorrow in a statement from his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
He highlighted Pastor Eno’s commitment to her community and her contributions through the “Golden Initiative for All,” which aimed to support women and children in Akwa Ibom. The President noted, “Her selfless service will forever remain an important part of Akwa Ibom’s history.”
Governor Sanwo-Olu also shared his condolences, reminding Governor Eno to find comfort in the knowledge that his wife lived a fulfilled life and made a significant impact on many. He said, “It is usually not very pleasant when we lose our loved ones,” encouraging Eno to accept the situation as part of God’s plan.
Chairman of the Northern States Governors’ Forum, Muhammadu Yahaya, expressed deep sympathy on behalf of the 19 Northern Governors. He described Pastor Patience Eno as a woman of great virtue and noted her significant influence on both her family and the state.
In her message, First Lady Remi Tinubu described the loss as “deeply painful” and commended Pastor Eno’s kindness and dedication. “Her kindness, humility, and dedication to her people will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched,” she said.
Pastor Patience Umo Eno, aged 57, is remembered for her grace and commitment to the people of Akwa Ibom and Nigeria.
