On Monday, January 13, 2025, members of the Lagos State House of Assembly impeached Speaker Mudashiru Obasa over accusations of multiple statutory and financial infractions.
The lawmakers replaced Obasa with his Deputy, Lasbat Meranda, who represents Apapa Constituency 1. Meranda is also a former Chief Whip of the House.
