Kylian Mbappe’s struggles are karma catching up with him – Emmanuel Petit
Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has suggested that Kylian Mbappe’s recent poor form at Real Madrid is a result of “karma.” Petit made the claim following Mbappe’s disappointing performance in Real Madrid’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.
Despite being a key player for Madrid, Mbappe was unable to score against Liverpool, with the Reds’ defenders limiting him to just one shot from open play. The France international also had the opportunity to score from the penalty spot but saw his effort saved by Liverpool’s goalkeeper, Caoimhin Kelleher.
Mbappe has now netted only three goals in his last 10 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid, a stark contrast to his usual prolific form.
Speaking to After Foot RMC, Petit commented on Mbappe’s ongoing struggles, saying, “He’s been waiting for years to make the move to Real Madrid. But, you know, there’s also karma. I believe in that kind of thing — spiritual stuff. I’m a big believer in karma. When you keep doing things that irritate people, eventually, they all start turning against you. And then, somehow, everyone ends up wanting the same thing: to see you fail.”
