Kwam1 calls out Kollington for lack of support after mother’s death

On Thursday, April 24, renowned Nigerian Fuji musician Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as Kwam1, expressed his anger towards his senior colleague and mentor, Ayinla Kollington, for failing to reciprocate the support Kwam1 showed him during his time of loss.

In an emotional interview with On Air Personality (OAP) Bamidele Adeyanju on Agbaletu Radio, Kwam1 revealed how he supported Kollington when the latter’s mother passed away. He detailed how he handled all the funeral arrangements, including the finances, and brought many dignitaries, including governors, to ensure his colleague’s mother was given a proper and dignified burial.

However, Kwam1 was visibly upset as he shared how Kollington did not offer any condolences after the death of his own mother on January 18, 2025. Despite being in good health and residing in Nigeria at the time of Kwam1’s loss, Kollington allegedly gave the excuse that he had called Kwam1 but his calls went unanswered.

“I’m very angry with Alhaji Kollington for not reaching out or offering condolences when I lost my mother. I joined hands with him to bury his own mother. I supported him to give his mother a befitting burial. I brought many dignitaries to the burial including governors, and I handled all the finances 100%,” Kwam1 said in the interview.

“See how he paid me back. What could have happened after everything I did for him? He was in Nigeria, hale and hearty when my mom passed away, and the only excuse he could give was that he called, and I didn’t pick. Am I not supposed to be angry?” Kwam1 added.

The revelation comes as a shock to many fans and colleagues of the two Fuji music icons, highlighting the often complex nature of relationships in the entertainment industry.
