Kogi govt accuses Natasha of violating order, says embattled senator risks arrest

Kogi State Government has accused the suspended senator of Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, of violating law and orders of the state government.

The state governor, Usman Ododo, had banned political rallies, gatherings and long convoys ahead of Mrs Akpoti Uduaghan’s homecoming sallah celebration with her constituents.

The state government, in a statement issued by the commissioner of police, Kingsley Fanwo, cited credible intelligence reports for the decision.

But the embattled lawmaker defied the government directives and hosted a large crowd of supporters at her residence in Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area.

However, speaking during an interview on Channels TV, Mr Fanwo said security agencies will determine whether the lawmaker should be arrested or not for “violating” the governor’s order.

“There was a directive from the state governor, and the security agencies were told to execute the directive.

“If someone has violated it, the security agencies do not need the governor again to give them another directive; they know what to do.

“Only the security agencies will be able to answer that (whether to arrest the senator or not); they know how they go about their operations. I am not a police officer, but I am very sure that she should be asked a lot of questions about her incitements.”
